Value creation through knowledge - by capturing and transferring implicit / tacit knowledge, the loss of knowledge is stopped.
No activity can be carried out without knowledge. Employees have extensive knowledge. But only a small proportion is explicitly present. The overwhelming part remains - as with an iceberg - hidden beneath the surface, i.e. in the employee's head.
Explicit knowledge
Documented, described, pronounced and concretized knowledge.
Explicit knowledge is therefore no longer bound to man with its documentation.
Implicit / tacit knowledge
Implicit knowledge is usually not documented and can often only be described verbally or pictorially.
Implicit knowledge - also called experiential knowledge - is bound to people.
